GAMERS READ Virtual .5K (500M) Walk, Run, Sprint

Kicks Off September 10 - 12, 2020 Through November 15, 2020

Gamers Read Virtual .5k (500 m) Walk/Run/Sprint aims to bring the gaming, cosplay, anime, and running communities and their families together to advocate for literacy, especially among youth in grades K-5. Literacy is a critical skill for success in society, and eSports careers such as game design & development, comic book creation, shoutcasting/streaming, and eSports journalism all require well-developed literacy skills. Gamers Read Virtual .5k (500m) Walk/Run/Sprint is sponsored by PCX GO!, a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to prepare K-16 youth for eSports careers through informing, instructing, and educating youth around eSports career pathways.

Runners/walkers can complete the virtual .5k over three days (September 10, 11, and 12), and PCX GO! will be live streaming on Saturday, September 12th, which is also National Video Games Day. Dress up as your favorite Comic Book or Video Game Character!!!!! Partial proceeds benefit the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) hospitals (Egleston, Scottish Rite, and Hughes Spalding) to provide gaming equipment and training for eSports careers for the youth whom CHOA serves
